Odontology?

Hi everyone!!馃憢馃徑

So today I'm want to talk you about why I choose odontology.

Like so many people when I was a child I wanted to be a dancer or circus artist ... things like that ... in fact being a ballerina was my dream career.馃拑馃徎
But when I grew up I realized that I wanted to be a lawyer .. because I love to read and I never lose in an discussion (my mom's word not mine), but then at some point in my life I discovered that I was really good at biology, and I found anatomy very interesting, so I started thinking about health careers.

I was never sure which health career to choose, so throughout my high school and part of middle school, I said I wanted to be something different every week, one week I wanted to be a kinesiologist, then an occupational therapist and the next I wanted to be a doctor (Honestly, at that time odontology was never an option馃檭).

Studying medicine seemed like a very good idea, because it was something that could meet my expectations, such as helping people, continuing to study biology and learning more about anatomy. I was very sure of that idea during my last two years of high school, and I had even planned my degree (pediatric oncology). But for different reasons (the wrong postulation was an important one) I didn't enter to medicine, so I decided to take a year off and rethink about what I really wanted to study.

In that year off I had a really important talk with one of my dad's friend (who's a dentist) and he told me about the career and how fun and similar to medicine can be; so thanks to that I started thinking about odontology, and I found out that it was a really good idea, because I could still work in the health area and make a degree related with kids (odontopediatry), but the "good part" is that I can have time for me, for my family, for travel and for "enjoy my life". So here I am, university is pretty good (tiring of course, but entertaining), and I feel very happy right now with what I'm doing, I've learned a lot, and I've also discovered that I can do things I couldn't do in medicine,  like being some kind of artisan which is something I really like cause I can continue working in my motor skills, so I think it has been a very good decision so far.

In the future I see myself working with people, mainly children, from all over the world who need a little help in the area of health, because I really REALLY love to travel and children too hahha so it seems something that could make me very happy, but it's something that at the same time will allow me to make a small positive change in these people and maybe in this world.
